Recently, I attended a friend’s First Friday event at Halcyon Salon in Kansas City, where I met one of the most fun and unique new Maker’s Collective: a group specializing in permanent jewelry.
This collective is the result of a friendship between four long-distance friends who originally connected through a book club. Wanting to create a more meaningful way to stay connected, they combined their love of books, friendship, and creativity to start a permanent jewelry collective of their own.
And, as you might expect, their love of books is woven right into their collections.

A Jewelry Collection with a Story
The experience begins with choosing your chain. Their collection is divided into four different “Chapters,” with Chapter One featuring the more affordable chain options and Chapter Four offering their premium selection.
Once you’ve chosen your chain, you can select the type of jewelry you’d like — a necklace, bracelet, ring, or anklet. Each piece is custom-measured to fit you, making it truly your own.
But what makes their jewelry especially fun is the inspiration behind the designs. Their chains are named for book characters and favorite literary works, giving you yet another way to find a piece that speaks to you.
And then comes my favorite part: the embellishments!
You can personalize your piece with a beautiful assortment of gemstones, charms, and other enhancements. There are so many lovely little details to choose from that the hardest part may be deciding which ones tell your story.

Watching the Makers at Work
Their work is incredibly detailed and requires the patience of saints!
At the event, I watched two of the makers work their way through a line of no fewer than five customers. They carefully measured each piece, made sure the fit was just right, and then created the permanent connection by welding the ends of the chain together — leaving you with a seamless, clasp-free piece of jewelry.
There was something really special about watching each piece come together. Every customer left with something unique and personal, and you could see how much care the makers put into their work.

Where You Can Find Them
This wonderful collective currently brings their permanent jewelry to pop-up events, vendor and craft fairs, and even bookstores throughout the Kansas City and St. Louis areas.
They also offer private parties, making this a fun option for a girls’ night, celebration, book club gathering, or any occasion where you want to create a special keepsake with friends.

Jewelry Made with Heart
This was such a fun and interactive experience, but what I enjoyed just as much was getting to know the makers themselves. They are friendly, creative, and genuinely a joy to talk with.
I love discovering small creative businesses that are built around friendship and community, and this group seems to have captured that spirit beautifully.
So, if you have an opportunity to catch them at one of their upcoming events, stop by and see what they’re creating. Take your time choosing a piece that speaks to you — and maybe one inspired by a favorite book or character.
After all, choose a piece from your heart. These makers certainly put a lot of heart into theirs.
