Creating Spaces with Purpose
That mindset led to Billie’s Grocery after returning from an overseas trip and realizing Kansas City was missing the kind of café she wanted to visit. Billie’s Grocery became a destination for specialty coffee, fresh pastries, a deli, and curated retail. Casa Ama followed from her love of Mexican cuisine, blending modern flavors with respect for the neighborhood history of its longtime location.
Wellness at the Heart of the Menu
Robin’s background as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner shapes her approach to food. Billie’s has become known for its entirely gluten-free bakery and thoughtfully sourced ingredients, proving that healthier options can be both delicious and beautifully crafted.
A Recipe for Success
When asked what makes a business successful, Robin points to three principles: create something unique, keep evolving, and listen to your customers. “I love asking people what’s missing in Kansas City,” she says. “What would make you happy?”
Like every entrepreneur, she’s faced challenges, particularly in training employees to understand not just the products, but the mission behind them. She credits much of her growth to learning from fellow business owners and seeking advice when needed.
Lifting Others Along the Way
Travel continues to inspire new ideas, but perhaps Robin’s most meaningful venture today is her monthly mentoring group for women entrepreneurs. She created it as a safe place where business owners can share challenges, ask questions, and support one another.”I wanted them to have a safe place,” she explains.
Her advice is simple but powerful: don’t be afraid to ask for help, keep learning, and remember that challenges are temporary.
